Lightning storms pound Texas; tornado hits Austin

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters)-tornadoes hit Austin, Texas, and thunderstorms hit the San Antonio, Dallas and Houston on Wednesday, bringing dry the Lone Star State drenching rain and wind damage that knocked out power, flooded the streets and on emergency workers busy rescuing the stranded drivers in high water.

A Tornado touched down in the early Wednesday in Northeast Austin, ripped across the u.s. 290 and became subdivisions, damaging a House along the road called Happy Trail, according to the National Weather Service.

Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico springlike dropped rainfall is greatest – 6-8 inch-in Eastern Austin and San Antonio and extending South to Houston, she added.

“It’s very unusual for this time of year,” said dir. Meteorologist Mark Wiley. “It was so much rain in a short period of time. In so many areas, the soil is still pretty dry, but it’s just so fast that it had no place to go, especially in urban areas. “

Federal Court blocks Sharia restrictions

(CNN) -federal appeals court has blocked Oklahoma voters approved a measure Barring judges from countries considering international and Islamic law in their decisions.

A three-judge panel of the 10th United States Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the previous command that prevents State question 742 certified until freedom of speech questions resolved. The decision Tuesday allowing a lawsuit brought by groups of Muslim-Americans to move forward to a bench trial.

“The proposed Amendment discriminates between religions,” said the judge. “An amendment to the Oklahoma its target name specific discrimination. Is the only legal religion mentioned in the amendment to the law of Sharia. “

A federal judge last summer has issued a temporary restraining order in favour of the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which has sued to nullify the law completely.

The amendment would require Oklahoma Court “rely on federal and State law when deciding cases” and “prohibit the Court from considering or using” international law or Islamic law, known as Sharia, which is defined as the amendments are based on the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.
